BGSTR has been a longtime collaborator with AMC and we always enjoy being able to contribute to The Walking Dead universe. Our latest promo for Season 10C of the hit series was another exciting chapter in our work together. Using a stark red and black color palette - this piece captures the ominous feeling of the world the show is based in and builds tension for the characters’ dramatic storylines.

We emphasized our main characters by animating moody portraits and built atmosphere by transitioning in and out of close-ups, landscapes, and key scenes from the season. Layered with character voiceovers referencing key plot points from Season 10, we were able to create dramatic moments by utilizing character portraits and connecting each scene with a viscous red tendril. The tendril was created by a combination of ink footage and 3D displacement to simulate red ink unfurling across the screen. It acts as a navigational tool for the spot, guiding viewers from one scene to the next.
The end result was a :30 second promo spot that seamlessly links the early episodes of Season 10 to the six new episodes and ramps up excitement for the twists and turns every installment of The Walking Dead is sure to deliver.
