With the launch of Disney+ this year came a heartwarming docu-series from ABC about the journey of six puppies and their career as guide dogs for the blind. ABC came to us with THE BEST footage of adorable beauty shots of our heroes--from the time they were chosen and trained to the time of graduation.
Once we locked the logo design, we took it into a custom-built world using practically shot photos (created in BGSTRs new live-action studio!) of the dogs and their trainers. We printed some of our favorite shots on acetate, back-lit them with a light box, then arranged and animated the images with handwritten type for the credits.
In motion, we knew we wanted to keep it fairly simple, elegant and fun. Using stills, we were able to capture the energy and personality of each dog while using the light box and the light leaks as illumination for key moments and motivation for transitional elements, giving it an honest and physical look and feel. Throughout the sequence, we follow each vignette, visiting highlights in each puppy-dog’s life as the music guides us to lock-up.

Once the design for the title sequence was completed, we began bringing the show package to life for the lower thirds, locators, title cards, timelines and scoreboard sequences. We loved working with the team at ABC, helping to tell the story of each dog's journey.
And lets not forget the dogs - what heroes!
