For AMC’s new series NOS4A2, based off of the New York Times’ best-selling book by Joe Hill, we worked with the AMC team to introduce audiences to the frightening world of Christmasland.
Without much show footage to work off of, we designed this teaser package with a fully CG approach, building off of an idea centered around our villain's car - the Wraith. Using definitive props and show references, we wanted to properly capture NOS4A2’s world without giving too much inside information away.
Taking our time to make each scene full of character, we simulated smoke effects in Houdini for the gas mask and rendered our final vignettes in Redshift.
Once we established initial styleframes designed by Theo Daley, we jumped into production, bringing each individual element to life- the mask used by one of our villains, the bridge for our hero's portal, scrabble pieces, and the infamous Wraith used to travel to Christmasland. Taking our time to make each scene full of character, we simulated smoke effects in Houdini for the gas mask and rendered our final vignettes in Redshift.
Finalizing the sound mix with our collaborators at Plush, we delivered one full :20sec spot, that could seamlessly transition from one item vignette to another. Along with this, we delivered individual :10sec spots of each item for social.
Thanks to our partners at AMC for letting us take part. We had a blast!
